Your stunning photography makes me want to move to the UK. If this is the kind of beauty there is to be found there, count me in!!

If you don't mind me saying, I think you could do multiple things with or without the tree on the righthand side. With it, it darkens and grounds the image, which I think sets a heavier sort of atmosphere beautifully! If you did want to change that atmosphere to be lighter and less defined, you could experiment with cropping the tree out on the side just where the farthest-reaching branch is, which would leave you with the right side of the image being more open and creating the illusion that the image goes on forever. I've experimented with holding my finger up to the screen to block the tree out, and if you're going for that sort of weightless look, then it might be something to toy with.

Again, your images are absolutely stunning. Tree or no tree in this picture, I am completely blown away by the serenity of this scene and your beautiful gallery. Thank you so much for sharing.

Like anywhere in the world, we have good areas and bad areas, although as one American photographer I met said, "You guys are so lucky in the UK, everything is so close at hand. If I want to see anything I have to get on a plane and fly hundreds or thousands of miles to the other side of the country."!

Cheers for the tips. I have to admit that even after 4 years of this I'm only now starting to get a grip on the finer details of turning interesting images into great images. I often feel a frame has to have something on the edge to hold it in however as someone else has pointed out, you can leave it clear if the objects in the image are strong they will hold the viewer's interest. I think I might have wanted a dark balance on the right against the very dark and full tree on the left. Might be worth a visit back to the original source and see what I can do with this one.
