impressive work George flatford mill is situated within constable country being an artist as well as a photographer i used to marvel at the works of john constable and turner
Thank you, I just wish I'd waited another 30 mins and got the warm morning light hitting the cottage more as that bridge is a little over powering, ah well onwards and upwards.
My Mum used to love the area and she loved work by English painters like Constable. When I was a teenager she'd be trying to drum some culture into me in places like Flatford Mill and me being a truculent know-it-all would look bored and wonder where the gift shop was, ! Me now being a trainee old-git I love these places and being able to bring home a little piece of them is even better.
you're welcome George i was a traditional based artist before i got into using a computer and graphic tablet still havent got round to finishing off my version of docklands redux but looking at your latest photos would love to work with you in seeing if we can actually pull of a collaboration
I like the composition, the colour of the morning light and the hint of frost on everything, but I sort of wish the sunlight were more focused on the cottage than on the bridge. This might be one of those instances where if you’d taken the shot just a half-hour earlier or later, it would be perfect.
I'm glad you pointed that out, I completely agree with you and something I became aware of only after I'd finished editing it! Here's the kicker, the sun was moving towards the cottage and my brain should have registered that. I really should have waited about another 30-45 mins, it probably would have lit the buildings far better than the dull shadows I've ended up with.
It's only about 60 minutes away and I do intend to go back in the next month or so, so hopefully I will get another chance, just have to wait for the right weather conditions.
