Docklands, East London, United Kingdom. Taken June 2010
I really like this version, remnds me of a 1930s NY skyline shot.
I remember heading down into London just after a party at friend's house. I drove down to the other side of Docklands trying to get a sunset shot, missed it by about 20 mins after I got stuck in a 2 mile one way system! LOL! Headed around to the other side of the Docklands, the Blackwall side, creeping around in the shadows around "chucking out" time ( the time when the pubs close and everyone has to go home ) just waiting for someone to call the coppers and having to explain what I was up to! It was such a calm, walm Summer night. The one smell I love is a city centre on warm Summer night, something quite beautiful about the aroma of heat escaping the city as it starts to settle down for the night...
This is a genuine reflection, the water really was that still and perfect, basically because there are buildings all around and it takes a quite a breeze to shake the surface.
I was so proud that this got a DD, it was only a mess about edit for one of my shots. The DD was gained on date 10-10-(20)10, which makes it even more special to me!
The films "Naked" and "Eastern Promises" both offer interesting photographic takes on modern london.
