Natural History Museum, London

The wonderful main hall of the NHM in London. I got in early took some handheld shots ( hence why the quality is not so great ), then cloned out the half dozen people who were there.

Yes "Dippy" is still in the museum but in my shot all I got was the backside and tail, which was messing up my shot. If I had a wide-angle lens I would had more in the frame and I would have left him in there.

EDIT (29-FEB-2012 19:30 GMT): Cannot believe this shot has hit over 4,000 views so far in just over 12 hours! Thank you all very much indeed for you kind comments, favs and downloads!

All I got was the tip of the tail. Tricky decision, choose to leave it in and it looks awkward or clone it out and get I to keep the floor and first step to give more lead in space.

I love that building, and it's sister (the Royal Courts of Justice). I literally grew up in them as a kid, them, the British, the Science and the Great Ormand Street staff crèche. What is most amazing to me about this shot is that there are no people in it. In the 35 of my 38 years of memories of these amazing buildings I have never seen that. Which for approaching midday on a Saturday (as you EXIF says) says you must be a very patient man!

Wow! It's a superb building, even the cocoon wing is wonderful to study. I should have been looking at the exhibits but the architecture was more interesting to me on that day!

When we got there they weren't letting anyone in by the main entrance, only through the geology dept. So I quickly walked through to the main hall and there were only about half a dozen people there, so I edited them out in Photoshop.
